bye-bye cruise critic

I noticed today that my last post on Cruise Fucking Critic received 19 reactions. That's a record for me, and I don't remember ever seeing other posts in that rarefied air. And so, I've decided to end my long, rocky relationship with that message board. My last post there is also my final post.

Mickey Mantle, Yankee great, played one season too many, and it drove his career batting average under .300, which is a big deal. I want to go out on top, though, like Jim Brown quitting football in 1965 as the season yards rushing leader. (But that's the only way I want to be like football Jim Brown.)

Anyway, this means that I won't be giving any more heads-ups on that other cruise message board - not that these are really relevant nowadays. But I will continue to keep things up-to-date here - at least until October 31, when dribcritic is up for renewal again.

The Schnoz!

I'm old enough to know that reference, and young enough to still remember it, scuba diver.

In the same thread referenced above, there is a piece of work who is annoyed at the world because the flights from his nearest airport "have been highly restricted since the pandemic." The whole edited post is here:

Note the last sentence of that post ... and then read it, below, as it was before the edit:

I have no idea if the original post represented his true feelings, deliberately expressed, or if it was a Freudian slip, or if it was just a typo.

refunds

Since I'm not posting over there, I'll mention here, that both my Crystal and Regent refunds were received today.

The Crystal one really pushed the limit - four days short of three months. The Regent one - much larger because it was a cruise paid-in-full - was three weeks short of three months.

Earlier, I had received deposit only refunds for two cancelled cruises, one Oceania and one Regent, in only two weeks, or so.

All my refunds have been to the Costco Citibank card, so I owe them a bunch in cash rewards unless I make up for those with enough new charges by the end of the year. (Cash rewards are paid in February for purchases through the December billing. It's 3% for travel, so it adds up for cruise purchases.) And I'll also mentioned that Citibank was very good about giving the credit balance back as cash to a bank account. On the last big refund, after my billing date, I asked for it using their online chat feature, and it was processed in less than one week.

Congratulations

Very good news to hear you got your refunds
Any idea on the date you requested the Crystal one?

I don't remember the date I requested it, but I was going by the date of their confirmation, which was February 27. So it would have been exactly 90 days next Wednesday.
