july 2020 updates

Post: # 2966Post drib »

Check back here on Wednesday, July 1.

It will be the day after the end of a quarter, so I expect some new fares.

Mixing things up with a midnight run ...

Crystal:
trips w/insert: 13, total inserts: 117, total sql: 177

Of those 13 trips, six of them were across all categories - all on Symphony. Three of those were large fare decreases (30-40% jcalc on a B1), in Southeast Asia, in January 2021. I double-checked with the web site, and they are accurate for now, but I suppose they could be a mistake.

Oceania:
trips w/insert: 35, total inserts: 500, total sql: 545

Of those 35 trips, thirteen on Marina and twenty-two on Riviera, all were fare decreases (4-14% jcalc on a B1), almost all in 2021.

Regent:
trips w/insert: 0, total inserts: 0, total sql: 120, Icleand: 1

... but I'm going to do the first follow-up later today, so stay tuned ... and note that I won't be sending out emails until after the follow-up.

nothing new from the first follow-up

Post: # 2980Post drib »

Emails launched!

I'll probably do some more follow-ups between now and August 1, but I'm not going to plan for them as planning seems kind of pointless these days.

One other small observation I'll make, about Crystal Serenity, is that these three trips are no longer on the legacy file:

Ship 2, Serenity, trip 7633, 2023.12.08, , Caribbean Wanderlust, OCY231208-07: XML not found!
Ship 2, Serenity, trip 7634, 2023.12.15, , Azure Escape, OCY231215-07: XML not found!
Ship 2, Serenity, trip 7635, 2023.12.22, , Tropical Holiday Wonders, OCY231222-14: XML not found!

They are the last three trips scheduled, and they are still on the Crystal web site. I wouldn't draw any conclusions about that because the legacy file is notoriously unreliable. Still, be on the lookout for these three cruises.

That's all folks!

For what it's worth, all status was updated today.

trips w/insert: 26, total inserts: 286, total sql: 350.

It looks like the fare decreases from July 1 were for a temporary promotion, and the fares have reverted to their previous value. (They are all still fare decreases from their original values, though.)

crystal symphony 2023 itineraries

Post: # 2989Post drib »

I added placeholder trips for these itineraries. I'll complete them and run Fare Compare for them as soon as their web pages are live on the Crystal web site.

A couple of notes of interest:
  • There is a gap from February 7, in Singapore, to February 22, also in Singapore.
  • There are some six night itineraries at the beginning. (They usually only do those later on, as Getaways, when a longer segment is not selling well.)
  • There are two itineraries that end or start in Eilat.
  • There are two itineraries that end or start in Rouen. (I like that! I think I'll book one immediately. Oh wait ...)
  • Looks like Symphony and Serenity will be crossing paths a lot in the Med.

I'm running an update now, but I can see that it's only status changes, and the usual sprinkling of Crystal categories that changed from unavailable to available. (I won't post those because it makes the Fare History selector look like a hoarder lives there.) I'll update the new Crystal Symphony trips as soon as their fares are available, though. Otherwise, I'm going to be social distancing from drib critic until August.

Where’s my refund?
You’re running a Ponzi scheme!
So you’re bankrupt - both morally and financially
You rip your customers off

Oh sorry I thought this was one of those threads - and everyone seems to post that on most threads on that other cruise forum....

Carry on with your social distancing - and wear a mask 😷

Dec 2022 - RSSC Explorer - Singapore to Sydney
Feb 2023 - Silver Muse - Cairns to Singapore
September 2023 - RSSC Explorer - Vancouver to Tokyo
December 2023 - RSSC Explorer - Sydney to Auckland
Dec 2023 - Crystal Symphony - Auckland to Melbourne - 16 days - nope Crystal went belly up

FYI, the 2023 Symphony web pages are now up, so I'll go to work to get Fare Compare updated by the end of the day.

======

All trips and fares are updated. The average fare per day, on a B1, is $502, which is significantly more than 2022. There was only one new port - new to drib critic - which is Kampot, Cambodia.

regent 143 night world cruise

Post: # 3017Post drib »

I put in a placeholder trip for the 2023 world cruise, assuming it will be on Mariner again, and guessing at the start and end dates and ports.

Trip 7680:

This is exactly what they wrote in their email:
Regent Connects wrote:SOON TO BE REVEALED...

An epic journey that traverses 42 countries and 6 continents. We can't wait share more with you this September about our new, 143-night World Cruise, setting sail in 2023.
Clearly, they also couldn't wait [to] proofread their email.

Is Antarctica the one omitted continent? Wouldn't it be more epic to visit all seven continents in a single itinerary? (Bucket list: Check)
