june 2020 updates

Post: # 2937Post drib »

June 1 is a Monday. I'll do an update then, and continue to spot check throughout the month - which is kind of what I've been doing since March, looking for itinerary changes based on our new circumstances.

As always, I work on Pacific time, so emails won't go out until after noon, my time, on June 1.

The 34 trips are mostly increases on some categories - look at A4 as an example - that had large decreases in March. They are still lower overall, but if you jcalc them, you'll see how much they went up since March.

There were no changes for B1 or PH1, for example. So, in essence, fares are the same as mid-May. Nothing to get excited about.

In other words, nada.

I put placeholder trips in Roll Call for Serenity starting May 2023, but there are no web pages for that yet, and therefore no fares. It wouldn't affect the emails going out later today anyway because no one is subscribed to those trips.

crystal serenity new itineraries

Post: # 2957Post drib »

These are now fully updated in both Roll Call and Fare Compare.

The average B1 for 2023 is $480 per day, a bit more than 2022, but less than 2021.

There are solo fares, C3-S and B1-S, for all the new trips.

The itineraries are pretty ordinary, but for all those who have been cruise-starved these last three months, they probably look like good times and noodle salad.

There's some that are alright - and the 7 sea days for the trans Atlantic looks ok to me!
No rush to book anything though and I want to see what they're planning to do with Symphony in 2023
Of course by then we will also have the new Ocean ships itineraries to choose from - I'm sure

crystal serenity new itineraries for fall 2020

Post: # 2962Post drib »

Crystal added six new itineraries, from October 1, 2020 through November 12, 2020.

They are all seven nights, and go from Miami to San Juan, then San Juan to Miami, and repeat two more times. The three segments from Miami to San Juan all have the same description, "Sunkissed Chic," and from San Juan to Miami, "Tropical Interlude." The fares are all different, though - the first two are $1599 for a B1, the second two are $1600 for a B1, and the last pair are $1799 for a B1. But all of them are the lowest per diem available for any Serenity cruise.

To simplify Roll Call, because the old itineraries would be overlapping, I removed all the old trips from September 12 through November 12. (I suppose I should put a GAP trip in there, but maybe that would be confusing as well.) The first original itinerary after all the cancelled itineraries, then, is November 12, nine nights, round-trip Miami.

I think they would have been more attractive as seven day cruises, round-trip Miami, because of air travel. But I suppose many people will book any two of the new itineraries, back-to-back, and have round-trip Miami, or round-trip San Juan. So anyone out there chomping at the bit, this may be a good opportunity for you, win, place or show.

Speaking of biting, two Regent Nav itineraries bit the dust - March 20, 2022, 14 nights, Miami to New York City, and April 3, 2020, 12 nights, New York City to London.

No explanation given, so it could easily be that SpaceX is going to launch Navigator into orbit and land it in half-way around the world, saving days and days of ocean travel.

crystal serenity new fares for november and december

Post: # 2967Post drib »

There were five existing itineraries, from November 12 thru December 23 with new reduced fares - along the lines of the new itineraries (see three posts above).

If you already booked one of the newer itineraries, this might give you some buyers remorse. These new reduced fares are in a much better time slot for the Caribbean in that they are outside of hurricane season. (Also, Crystal is more likely to have the new post-Coronavirus experience ready for prime time.) On the other hand, they are closer to what might be the second wave of Coronavirus.

In any case, Fare Compare has been updated for those five itineraries.

I re-ran just these trips today to pick up the solo fares which were missing from the Crystal web site last time. I don't get all solo fares, just E2-S on Symphony, C3-S on Serenity, and B1-S on both ships. Not even Darryl Kerrigan would expect me to keep the history of all solo fares.

And from that other message board:
cruisingxpert wrote:Drib" who does his own site and updating as a hobby shows a PH guarantee for $5999pp. ...
Fare Compare is an archive, so guarantee fares, like PG, do not disappear. However, it will show as "not found" on Fare Compare, and if you hover over the "per day" column in the Dollar View, a title balloon will show both the status and the date it changed - in this case "not found on 2020.06.19." But the best place to see the current status and status date here is on ship dollar:

ship dollar for trip 6881

I got an email from Tom Wolber too.

He wanted to know what it would take get a Wilburrrr Award for Crystal.

I told him that the Wilburrrr Award was not for sale ... for anything less than 50 grand ... but that Crystal's credit was no good here. Cash only. (50K for one award, but a 15% discount for each back-to-back years. Bargain!)
