400 400 400 400 400 800
500 500 500 500 500 1000

There are no daily doubles because those slow things down.

We will be using the James Holzhauer Rule, meaning that all clues are given top/down, starting with 100. You can switch categories whenever you want, but you will always get the lowest value clue left on the board.

All points represent OBC* and can be redeemed at the BOOTS event in October.

I'll pick the first clue to get us started ... that's entertainment for 100 ... remember, each correct response can be made from the letters in the word "entertainment."

Answer:

Lower
Michigan

Anyone can respond now. For no apparent reason, please phrase your response in the form of a question. I'll be monitoring this thread frequently to award points for correct responses, or subtract them for incorrect ones. If you wish, you can switch categories when you respond, and that will save time. Otherwise, I'll just go to the next value, or if all clues have been played, start a new category for you.

I may occasionally need to get a ruling from our judges, and you may not like it, but their decision is final. Tough cookies!

* OBC = Only Broken Cookies. Each point is worth 1/10th of a cookie. I know, it's a crummy reward. (That's one of my charming little Canadian jokes!)

What is "terminate"?
I'll take Name that Tune for 100.

Didn't James Holzhauer generally start with the highest valued clues?

Fezzik, petlover, this game is being played on the KLT message board, here:

https://www.luxurycruisetalk.com/forum/ ... pardy.html

I'm updating drib critic in parallel, but if you want to play, you should do that on KLT.

Hey, petlover, welcome to drib critic!

Further, Fezzik, "terminate" would have been incorrect, although I'm sure there are folks that feel that way about Michigan. (I've been there, though, and it's a lovely place ... and so close to Canada!) In regards to the Holzhauer Rule, it's named for Holzhauer to prevent people from scooping up all the high values first. The game plays better that way, and often you need the lower value response to understand the later ones.

Petlover, there is no change in your score for "Erie, PA, which seems to me akin to what Mayor Lindsay once said about "Flushing. NY." (He said it was a good idea.)

You may wish to bear in mind that there is a dumb giant lurking about here, who (whom?....no, who) requires more clear instructions.

Gimme a break about "terminate" being wrong. Michigan is a state, is it not? The lower part of a state is a point in which it terminates. Duh!

Shouldn't a rule named after a person reflect, I don't know, the way that that person actually played the game? But I am just a dumb giant, what do I know?

And how do Australians feel about Tasmania, and Tasmanians about mainlanders? (That's not a rebuttal, I really want to know!)
