queenstown

I know! This is not a cruise port city. But it is still somewhere someone might want to take a tour someday.

This was the best tour we've ever had anywhere - a helicopter ride from Blanket Bay to Milford Sound and back. We stopped on a glacier, we stopped at the Tasman Sea, and we stopped at Milford Sound. Now, many cruises do go into Milford Sound, and Milford Sound was very pretty. But on this helicopter tour, Milford Sound was anticlimactic.

Our pilot was Alfie Speight, who did a lot of flying for the Lord of the Rings films, and is credited in IMDB for it.

Alfie Speight

The tour was a bit over two hours long. Expensive, but money well spent.

Speights is a very famous (in NZ) brand of beer - a very famous surname in that part of the world
